Discuss the next day over dinner

If possible have dinner as a family every evening. It is a great time for everyone to connect, ask how days went and ask about what is coming up in the next day or so. This might be the very time one of your kids will talk about the fact they have a cake sale the next day – and great reminder to get baking after dinner and ensure there is some money in their school bag. Or they will speak of a no uniform day that had been communicated in a note the previous week and is now buried under a pile of other papers and completely forgotten.
