Not only are large families popping up in the States but also in Russia. Due to the shrinking population, Russian couples are encouraged and even rewarded if they have large families. Lyudmila and Nikolai Nikolenko had 6 children together and then chose to adopt 19 more making the grand total, 25. In 2010 they along with 7 other large families, were given an award and prize money of £1,100 from former President Dmitry Medvedev.
